    Bau Down: The Biography

    Sunday, November 4, 2007, 03:25 PM [General]

    About Bau Down: The Biography

Let's be honest, nowadays hip-hop artists come a dime a dozen, especially on myspace. There are thousands of rappers that all look, act and sound alike. Quite frankly, there is no way to avoid the fact that most of them suck, and simply only care about trying to become famous for some ridiculous reason. On the other hand every now and then there comes one who truly is talented, makes great music, is true to themselves and their listeners, and does it all for the right reasons.

Bau Down (Kevan Bauman) & twin brother Carsten Bauman were both born in Memphis, Tennessee. Seven months later, Carsten passed away due to a complicated heart problem. Following the unfortunate loss of his brother, Kevan's family moved to Birmingham, Alabama until a few years thereafter, when they moved north to Chicago, IL. His experience in music goes back to being a young kid and hanging out in his grandfathers recording studio in Skokie, IL. His grandfather, Verne Engblom, had a Music Recording and Publishing Company named Chordcraft (www.chordcraft.com), that he had established in 1964. It was there that he had his first experiences with music creation and action behind the microphone.

In grade school, he continued with his interest in performing, acting in musicals, and auditioning for movie roles. As a kid, he loved to listen to more classic songs on Oldies 104.3, a Chicago based station. As time moved on, his interest extended to more modern music which was at the time exploding into the music scene, artists such as - K7, Ace of Base, Tag Team, Coolio, LLCoolJ and most of the music on the Chicago radio station B96.3, took his musical interest too new places. As time went on, his older brother Chris exposed him to more and more hip-hop music. That music drew his attention in a different way than much of the genres he generally listened to. It was uniquely deeper than music of the day. It sparked something deep within him. However, it wasn't until the later years of high school when he discovered a passion deep enough for music to start writing and creating his own music. Soon enough, when Senior year of high school came around, it was a turning point in his life. As with everyone, important decisions had to be made. For the time being, his musical ambition had to take a back seat to a college education.

Conversely, while he attended college at Concordia - New York in 2002, his passion for music took hold of the steering wheel. It was there that he spent more time during the day and night writing and composing songs on his desktop computer, than he spent on school work. As the school year came to an end all the hard work outside the classroom led him to have enough material for his first LP. In the summer of 2003, he completed his first album, "Another Perspective". The album was a huge accomplishment leading him to realize his potential. With his strong faith in himself & God, he vowed to continue his with his dream in the name of his brother, who did not ever get the chance to chase his.

Bau Down's music is unique in more ways than one. It is a perfect combination of driven meaningful lyrics, remarkable instrumentals and flawless production. His incredible talent speaks for itself, as it should. For some time now, producers, engineers and artists all around the country have looked to collaborate with Bau Down to advance their own careers.

The music written, produced, engineered and recorded by Bau Down over the years has been astounding and has caught the attention of countless industry professionals and artists alike. Surprisingly though considered, a major record deal has not yet taken place. At the moment, he has all the tools necessary to do what he looks to accomplish, and does not intend on letting a record company mold him into someone they want him to be as they do to so many others. In his opinion, most record labels are a cancer to the fading music industry. However, Bau Down does remain in contact with many interested executives at record companies large and small. However, he is simply not jumping into any opportunity until the offer, conditions and timing are just right.

Kevan just recently graduated from Valparaiso University, Indiana - in December 2006. He lives in the Chicago area currently producing, engineering and recording all involved with his record label, Bau Down Records. He also earned the title CCM at Chordcraft Music Company, which has just launched its revolutionary music networking website, fanfound.com in June 2007. Find out more about that by visiting http://www.fanfound.com.

With the recent very successful release of his second and critically acclaimed new album "BELIEVE" in 2006, an upcoming collaboration album with FAM titled "Early Retirement", as well as producing solo albums for FAM, Sevyn & Himself this coming year - the future is set to be quite busy, and successful.

Since the age of the internet and digital music is among us, the music world has been flooded with underground musicians. Bau Down has worked very hard to be who and where he is today. However, he would not consider himself successful if it were not for all of his loyal friends, fans, musicians, media personnel, and venues that work so hard in the fight to get his name and music out into the world.

    FAM: The Biography

    About FAM: The Biography

Let's be honest, nowadays hip-hop artists come a dime a dozen, especially on myspace. There are thousands of rappers that all look, act and sound alike. Quite frankly, there is no way to avoid the fact that most of them suck, and simply only care about trying to become famous for some rediculous reason. On the other hand every now and then there comes one who truly is talented, makes great music, is true to themselves and their listeners, and does it all for the right reasons.

Hip-Hop artist F.A.M. (Matt Park) first began as just another friend of fellow musician Bau Down (Kevan Bauman). It was not until the friendship enhanced over time that F.A.M. really had the opportunity to show Bau Down his musical talent and dedication.

F.A.M.'s musical influences stem through his childhood. He learned to play piano, violin, and guitar at an early age. As a child, F.A.M. was influenced by up and coming rock bands such as the smashing pumpkins, green day, and nirvana. As F.A.M. entered Jr. High he was introduced to the hip-hop scene and slowly fell in love with the music. His first influences being LL Cool J, Tag Team, Master P, Notorious BIG, and Puff Daddy. Just recently, has F.A.M. begun to pursue work making his own influential music.

Months of hanging around the studio showed Bau Down the dedication and kind of person that F.A.M. really was. Becoming friends and having the will to learn from Bau Down sparked the start of something great, when Bau offered to produce him. Production of the debut album "A Walk in the Park" is now currently in the works, and is already being talked about. Look for the album to drop around August/September 2007, along with Bau Down's album "Thy Will Be Done."

Recently, the two talented artists have also initiated work on the much anticipated collaboration album titled "Early Retirement." This project is expected to drop along with a mixtape around June/July 2007.

Since the age of the internet and digital music is among us, the music world has been flooded with underground musicians. Bau Down & FAM have worked very hard to be who and where they are today. However, they would not consider themselves successful if it were not for all of their loyal friends, fans, musicians, media personnel, and venues that work so hard in the fight to get their names and music out into the world.
